Laurie K. Fischer earned her BAE degree from UNF. She is a certified elementary school teacher with more than 35 years of experience sharing the magic of stories with young learners. Her love for children’s literature grew from countless classroom read-alouds, where she witnessed how stories spark imagination, build empathy, and bring joy. 

Throughout her career, Laurie focused on helping children understand the world around them while also learning to express their feelings, solve problems, and grow with confidence. These experiences inspire her writing. 

As an author, Laurie creates stories with relatable characters of all shapes and sizes. Her stories help children feel seen, included, and encouraged while learning gentle lessons about friendship, emotions, nature, and everyday life. She thoughtfully involves students when choosing illustrations and characters and intentionally selects whimsical, warm settings that children love. Many of her stories feature animal characters, a favorite among young readers, and are designed to be visually appealing and comforting.
